Interview with T-MinusYou (Meg Johnson)

Check out her band, T-MinusYou! myspace.com/tminusyou

First off, how did you come up with your alias T-Minus You?

-I came up with T-MinusYou with just thinking of experiences where times were better without drama and “dumb boys” so to say

What instruments do you play and when did you start playing them?

-I play acoustic guitar which Ive technically played for 7 months but I had one when I was little also:) And I play ukulele which Ive played for 3 or 4 months

Why did you choose to create music?

-Music has always been there for me, its never broke my heart and its never left me when I needed it most and I just wanna make people as happy with my music as I am with other people’s music.

At the moment, are you in any other bands?

-I am not in any other bands, just trying to get one started.

How would you describe your music?

-My music is really a self-healing method for myself when I get my heart broken, or even if Im falling for someone but I write it so that everyone else who listens can relate.

What is your writing process like?

-My writing process is kind of spread out. When lyrics come to my head I’ll write them down and if it keeps coming eventually Ill have lyrics to a whole song, but sometimes Ill get an idea and it takes months to finish the lyrics and a few days maybe even weeks after I write the lyrics I write the instrumentals.

How has growing up in a small town, such as Farmington, New Mexico, affect the music you create?

-Growing up in Farmington hasn’t really affected my music so much but if there’s anyway it has, its the people in it who have either hurt me or been there for me and the fact that I want to move on to bigger and better things.

What are your inspirations?

-My biggest inspirations have to be every little hardship I come across in life, and the people who inspire me most are definitely Christofer Drew, Cady Groves, and Cody Carson.

As of now, what are you goals for the future?

-As of RIGHT NOW, I have one goal for the future and thats to make my dream of being a musician and touring the country come true.

Do you plan on recording music, any time soon?

-I would LOVE to get into a studio and record but of course moneys tight so all the songs I write I end up recording on Garage Band so, recording soon would be a yes.

What do you like to do in your free time?

-In my free time I write or hang out with friends. I used to play soccer but I cant anymore which is why I started writing my own music.

Is there anything else you want everyone to know?

-Just that you’re not as alone as you think you are. That’s why I started writing music.
