Hello. How are you doing today?
I’m doing great! Thanks for asking! Haha :)
Could you introduce yourself and your alias?
Well my name’s Taylor and my alias is NextStopSummer!
How did you come up with the name?
Actually my friend came up with the name and I really liked it because I thought it had a really good, happy feel to it and it sort of matched the way I wanted my music to sound!
Besides having a happy feel, how else would you describe your sound?
Well when I first started out I tried to write songs with a happy feel but now I really write about what I’m feeling at the moment, sad songs, happy songs and mostly love songs because my girlfriend is really my main influence when I’m writing! :)
Do you keep your audience in mind while writing songs, or is your music just for your own personal expression?
I really just do it for my own expression, but usually other people can relate to it too, so both I guess! Haha
How would you describe your song writing process?
Sometimes things just come to mind, or other times I just sit there with my guitar and try and think of stuff! :)
So besides guitar, are there any other instruments you can play?
I’ve actually been playing the piano longer than guitar, but I mostly just play guitar now because I personally think it’s more fun to play and I love acoustic music! I also play the ukulele a little bit, but that’s pretty similar to guitar! Haha :)
That’s interesting! those are all great instruments.
When did you realize that you really wanted to start making music?
Well I started listening to a lot of electro-ish solo artists like A Rocket To The Moon (When it was just Nick), Owl City, Nickasaur!, and stuff like that and I really liked that kind of music and thought it was cool that they could do it all by themselves, so I started trying to write and record some songs. So at first my songs were more electro but I’ve moved on to a more acoustic sound! :)
Yeah, I could hear that the sound changed from the songs, “There’s Still Hope” and “Atethreeohnine!” to “It Was Me” and “Here We Go Again”
Since you moved on to the acoustic sound, how has your influences changed?
Well I feel like with acoustic music I can really put more emotion into the songs and it just sounds more real, without all the programming and effects. It’s really just another step in my journey, as my music tastes change, the music I play will change!
Are you in any other bands?
Nope! :)
When you began NextStopSummer! what were your expectations for the future?
I really had no expectations, it was just something to do for fun and it still is! :)
Well it’s great that it’s just something you love doing!
Besides music, what do you like to do in your free time?
I really like doing graphic design stuff! And hanging out with my girlfriend of course! Haha :)
What website (myspace, facebook, purevolume, etc?) do you feel has helped you gain your fanbase / get your name out?
Which one is your favorite?
Definitely MySpace, I think it’s the best place to interact with fans and that’s probably my favorite part about this whole music thing, meet all these great people and making friends rather than just fans! :)
That’s a good point. It seems that lot of musicians are forgetting about who got them to where they are now, the fans. How do you feel about this?
I think it’s pretty disappointing, for so many people their main goal is to get famous and make money, a lot of artists I used to talk to on MySpace and stuff have gotten big and don’t even care about their fans it seems. I think a lot of bands/artists don’t really realize that simply commenting a fan back on MySpace can make them feel good and show that you actually care! Haha :)
So it sounds like you’ll always be good to your fans, even if one day you do get famous.? :]
Alright, i’d like to thank you so much for taking the time to answer these questions!
Do you have anything else your fans should know?
Of course, I really doubt that I’ll ever be famous though! Haha :)
And no, I think that’s it! :P
